With Jason Terry set to begin his Celtics career officially on July 11th, the first day free agents are allowed to officially move, we give you a little insight on Mr. Terry. Thanks to Chris Tomasson from Fox Sports Florida. Check out his column here and follow him on Twitter.
TCN: What’s the biggest asset Jason Terry will bring to Boston?
CT: His scoring off the bench. The Celtics had little of that during the playoffs after Ray Allen went back to starting following Avery Bradley’s injury. Also, Terry’s ability to play both guard spots. He can spell Rondo at the point and also play the two guard. And his experience. He’s another guy with a championship pedigree.
TCN: Why will Celtics fans like Jason Terry?
CT: Sure, they’ll like him. He’s quirky but very likeable.
TCN: Could he co-exist with Ray Allen if Boston brought Allen back?
CT: Yes, he’s said his preference is for Ray Allen to return. Depth on the Celtics is very important after how bad their bench was in the playoffs due to many injuries. It would be very important for their old guys to keep their minutes down during the regular season if they want to make another title run.
TCN: How good a defender is Jason Terry?
CT: He’s slipping as a defender, being about to turn 34. But that’s not why they got him.
TCN: How will Jason Terry’s game fit with Rajon Rondo?
CT: Rondo loves to pass. If Terry hits shots after Rondo gets him the ball, sure Rondo will like him.
