Heart of a Champion – Celtics take down Hawks, 87-80

Gritty! Heart! Passion!

Down 11, the Celtics did it again! Paul Pierce scores 36 and adds 14 boards and the Celtics defense slams the door on the Hawks in the 4th for an 87-80 win in Atlanta to tie the first round NBA Playoff Series at one game a piece Tuesday night.

No Rondo (suspension), no Allen (bone spurs), no problem, right? It looked dicey early in the third as the Celtics offense looked old and stagnant.  But, the rallied as Pierce almost single-handedly outscored the Hawks in the 4th.  Atlanta’s Josh Smith missed the final few minutes of the game with a sprained knee.  Kevin Garnett tallied his own double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Game 3 Friday night in Boston.
